Subject: Norfolk: Folkclubs & Singarounds From: Jack Blandiver Date: 20 May 08 - 07:48 AM We'll be in Norfolk for a week from Saturday 7th June, doing all our usual Norfolk things, but hopefully this year getting to a singaround or two along the way. So what's out there? Our base is Cromer, but we'll be hither & yon during the days so anywhere's possible. Ideally something nice & rural & traditional with the soul of Cox, Larner, Bellamy, butter & cheese & all - but otherwise anything goes; storytelling included... |

Subject: RE: Norfolk: Folkclubs & Singarounds From: GUEST,Jon Date: 20 May 08 - 09:01 AM Sheringham is 2nd Wed of the month at the Burlington Hotel. So you should OK for that one. Singaround format, songs occasional tune, mixed repertoire. There are a couple of othe places, Alby (last thu) and I believ Blakeny (last Sun) I don't know of anything else near Cromer during your visit. There is regular weekly folk music in Norwich. The ones I know of are. Sun, The Nelson, Nelson Street. Irish session - songs very rare. Tue, The Nelson. English session. Possibly tunes only. Wed, The Nelson, "Skiffle Pete". Seems to run as an informal singaround /folk club. Songs and tunes. Wed, The Shed, Lawson Road, Irish session. No singing. Thu, The Nelson, informal mix of songs and tunes old and new. Fri, The White Horse, Trowse. Norwich Folk Club. |

Subject: RE: Norfolk: Folkclubs & Singarounds From: treewind Date: 20 May 08 - 10:56 AM Have a look at Norfolk Folk but be warned that the site is very out of date. Also what is listed as a "folk club" there is often no more than an informal pub session. Suffolk Folk has a links page that covers a few things in Norfolk and should be a little more up to date - if there are any mistakes tell me - I'm the webmaster! Anahata |

Subject: RE: Norfolk: Folkclubs & Singarounds From: Jack Blandiver Date: 03 Jun 08 - 11:14 AM Okay - so we'll be in Norfolk next week, based in Cromer, from this Saturday to the fllowing Saturday - anything happening we should know about? Singarounds, folk clubs, additional to the ones already mentioned... Doesn't mean we'll show up of course as we've got a lot to fit in, but it'll be nice to know if there's anything we should give especial consideration to. Thanks to all so far. |

Subject: RE: Norfolk: Folkclubs & Singarounds From: GUEST,Sarah, a Norfolk gal in Barnsley Date: 04 Jun 08 - 10:52 AM the best source for all music gigs is the supplement in the friday edition of the Eastern Daily Press called 'Event' , not much good if you arrive on the saturday, but if you can get hold of a copy it's great. They also have a website with a search engine for events. Sarah |

Subject: RE: Norfolk: Folkclubs & Singarounds From: GUEST,Jon Date: 04 Jun 08 - 04:36 PM I find out about the Scottow one some time, I'd not heard of it. (I only know one of the others but the others are out of our own distance range [at least if I am to get the sessions I want to get to in Norwich in the week]) |
