Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: GUEST,Mick Woods Date: 27 May 08 - 06:26 AM Good news about the wood supply! Those nice people who supplied the wood in September are bringing us 3 loads of logs this year, so we should have a good blaze going throughout. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 May 08 - 07:58 AM I also plan to bring my chainsaw so maybe we can get that huge dead tree down... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: melodeonboy Date: 27 May 08 - 11:10 AM I think that's just an excuse, Richard. I heard that you were bringing it to use on Sue Tuckey's drum! |

Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: GUEST,carp angler Date: 01 Jun 08 - 10:14 AM only 2 weeks and 3 days to go!!! Weeeee ... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: Mick Woods Date: 02 Jun 08 - 05:00 AM Refresh - just over two weks to go. I'm trying to organise transport as we don't have car at the moment and I seem to have nearly as much stuff as DK these days. What, with the huge tent camp bed etc. That's what old age does to you. At my first knockholt ten years ago I had a tiny tent - no sleeping bag or any other luxuries. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Jun 08 - 07:17 AM Am I right that Knockholt is the nearest station? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 02 Jun 08 - 12:06 PM Right! Stations ... Knockholt or Dunton Green are the nearest stations as the crow flies - about 5 or 6 miles by road about 10! But the easiest to get to our field is Orpington Station Then an R5 bus which stops near the Tally Ho The Journey is about 25 minutes. I put the field postcode into TFL journey planner to see how to get from the campsite to Knockholt station and it planned a journey By bus to Orpington then a train back to knockholt station! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Jun 08 - 01:15 PM I need to collect my daughter and boyf from a station at about 11 Sun AM and then drive to Wiltshire for an unavoidable family do. Orpington looks like more of a nuisance than Knockholt station as far as I can see. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 02 Jun 08 - 01:44 PM Oh if you are driving then Knockholt Station is the best bet. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: GUEST,Essex Girl Date: 03 Jun 08 - 08:42 AM Richard, Orpington has a better service than Knockholt, especially on a Sunday. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: Girl Friday Date: 04 Jun 08 - 07:24 AM You only use Knockholt Station if you're a really good walker, or arrange a taxi from there. The station used to be called Halstead which is about a mile away, but was changed to Knockholt due to parcels being sent there instead of Halstead Essex. Woodsie is quite right, get off at Orpington and onto a R5 bus, bound for Knockholt Pound. It stops a few hundred yards from the Tally Ho, but you might have to ask the driver to stop there. Buses run around every hour but check timetable with TFL as I may be wrong. Pete the Hat uses the bus to go back to Orpington for supplies. He does the whole journey within 2 hours usually. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: GUEST,Woodsie Date: 04 Jun 08 - 01:20 PM The driver will stop outside the Tally Ho if you request. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: GUEST,Doorstopper Date: 06 Jun 08 - 08:30 AM Do many mudcats go to this? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: Girl Friday Date: 06 Jun 08 - 10:08 AM Quite a number, but we only know if they're catters if they tell us. it's not a ,mudcat event, Folkmob from Eltham run it. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: Dipsodeb Date: 13 Jun 08 - 06:42 AM Hi Sue we have decided that myself, Linda and Sue will do large pots of stuff enough to feed loads. I am doing indian beef curry with rice and chappatis. Linda is doing a large paella, and sue is doing green chicken Tai curry. Feel free to add to that if you want to. After last years fiasco there will be beer and nibbles available in the Marquee on Saturday, but the punch and anything else will be in a seperate marquee by invitation only! Debs |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: The Barden of England Date: 13 Jun 08 - 07:21 AM Now that's a good idea Debs. I'll behave myself (well almost) John Barden |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: naughtyforty Date: 13 Jun 08 - 08:21 AM What do we have to do to get an invitation to the other marguee? Or should that be what do we not have to do? Or possibly who do we have to do? (naughty, naughty, slap wrist) |
Subject: RE: Knockholt 2008 Summer Breeze From: melodeonboy Date: 13 Jun 08 - 09:57 AM Curries, paella and Linda's home brew. Sounds great to me! Burp! |
