Subject: ADD: On a mountain stands a lady From: emtee Date: 22 Jun 12 - 06:03 AM Lyr ADD: On a mountain stands a lady (Trad) Here is a slightly different version of this rhyme, which was obtained from my family tree book and was sung by children in Leeds, Yorkshire, England in the 1920's. On a mountain stands a lady Who she is I do not know All she wants is gold and silver All she wants is a nice young man So fall out my very best friend So fall out my very best friend It's time for you to go. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs for young children From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 25 May 08 - 01:28 PM Good show! How young is he? 2,3,4? If so, sit down with him, holding him on your lap, if he likes, and do fingerplays. (Google 'fingerplays'). Or go to the library and look for fingerplays. Fingerplays are the good old rhymes of yore - 'Here's the church & here is the steeple' 'Two little blackbirds sat on a hill' etc He will like it, and just like music, it will develop his sense of rhythm and rhyme.l (Saw an article in the paper by a child psychologist. He said 'For today's children, love is spelled T-I-M-E.') |
