Cleckheaton is celebrating it's 21st Festival this year (4/5/6 July).    Artists coming include Waterson, Carthy and Parkinson, Bernard Wrigley, Roy Bailey, Miriam Backhouse, The Wilsons and a whole lot more. There is going to be a party theme on Saturday evening to celebrate - (fancy dress is optional). Please see our website for more details.

21st Festival

I will be there on the stewards' desk as usual. Who else is planning on coming to help us celebrate?

As part of the celebrations a CD has been produced called Mixed Pickles. We are launching this on Saturday 7 June at the West End Pub in Gomersal. On the CD are tracks from artistes who have appeared at the Festival in the past 21 years and some who will be at this year's festival. For more information the video on our website.

CD Launch

It should be a very entertaining night. Free entry! Come along and enjoy yourselves.

Good Luck and best wishes for the 21st Festival. Linda and I had a great time with you last year.
Thanks for the CD launch blicky...from it, on you tube, I just listened to the late John Wright singing 'black clothes' - and then saw and heard another old friend. You've indirectly made my night!.

Thanks, and give Lenny a little hug!!

It was a brilliant night. I really enjoyed listening to Duncan and Anne, there again, I always do enjoy them in whatever form they go as. Russ was playing when we arrived, we were just in time to hear him sing Mary Ellen Carter, a favourite song of mine. Blackstone were very good, especially with 4 of them, Copper Kettle, well, what can I say about them. They are great friends of ours and I really enjoy singing along with their songs, the chorus song sheets are a great idea. Well not long now to the 'Real' Festival. Who is coming to that?

You almost make me wish I had managed to get there but "Folk on the Coast" was a marvellous alternative for me and I did throw Cleckie Fliers around.
Cleckheaton even got a mention from Les Barker during his mini eistedffod. LOL
Counting down to the start of the festival proper. 4th July!! Any americans attending I wonder.

Can anyone tell me how far it is from the campsite to where the main events are held? My wife is unable to walk any distance - and with any luck I'll have had too much ale to drive.

Ta,

John

Well, 2 weeks tonight and we'll be half way through the Festival enjoying the Festival party night. This is Geoff's last Festival as Director so lets make it a night to remember. All are welcome to the party in the Town Hall, after the evening concert.

See you there.

The mini bus runs as often as required. Quite often it does a complete circuit, Campsite, Town Hall, back to Campsite. When things are quiet the driver will have a radio so that he can be called when required. There is also another bus running from the Town Hall to the Whitcliffe Hote. (a new venue for this year).

It's just a pity that people like Squeezeboxc don't get off there backsides and do some thing to help small towns like Heckmondwike to get back up. Instead of slaggin them off I take it you was there then Squeezboxc or was you just mouthing off it's up to us to try to help get more people in to places like that it is no wonder that small towns are dying I for one will keep trying

Cleckheaton is a festival that likes to try and involve everybody. We take the festival to the people in the hope of keeping live music alive. This year we are going into varous pubs around Cleckheaton like The West End at Gomersal, and The Old Saw. There will also be various performances in Cafes within Cleckheaton for the general public to enjoy.

It might seem that way Mr Happy but the feet fail to fully function for quite a different reason.

I think it's Ray's alter ego that comes to Saddleworth cos he always appears relatively sober there.

Or is it the company he keeps at Holmfirth?

How about the old transport museum that used to be at Birstall ( I think!)Tyke. Closed down now so plenty of tumbleweed for the old winger to chew on. It used to be a bit of a ghost town when it was open so it will be an even better venue now! Eat dust winge box!
