Please post your fitness/letting go of weight goals, as you meet them by the day/week/monthly. Also, feel free to post your goals in your first posting. Encouragement/chatting is okay, as long as it is kept to a minimum. Have fun and don't beat yourselves up! Do what you are able when you are able.:-)


Walking today, still Saturday here. We went to the fairgrounds to see the Lipizzaner Stallions. No close parking, hiked across parking lot. Two long, ramps leading up to the seating, hiked up those, then down a set of stairs. At the end of the performance, repeated in reverse. So, considering I don't have stairs or high, sloping ramps in my daily routine, I feel as though I got a good workout and intend to get back on track!

Dug out and thinned a flower bed today, preparing to transplant quite a bit of the material (iris, daylilies, salvia). My shoulders and neck seem to feel it more than the rest of me. I'd say this was about 6 hours work.

My goals for this month:

    Yoga: 5 times a week

    Strength Training: Once a week with a personal trainer, another 2 times with friends.

    Walking: I hope to get out and walk every other day or so but in reality, it will depend on the temperature outside. High temps make me sick.

    Kayaking: As much as possible....had a great night out on Saturday....the activity does my body good and being out on the water does my soul good. :)

    Keeping things in perspective and a positive attitude are part of my goals as well.

Had a six week check in with my doc, today and he is happy with my progress. Lost another three pounds for an "official" total of 16. I'd like to get it up to at least one pound per week, but knew I had a few setbacks in exercise lately. So my goals are:

Get back to 10-20 minutes on the treadmill 5 days per week
Qi Gong - 25-30 minutes every other day
Free weights - 8 reps each times two every other day
Keep up my nutrition tracking at www.sparkpeople.com

And, off and running at the supermarket, pushing the cart with the little kid's car attached to the front with the 45 lb grandson in it. Thirty minutes fast pace (well, fast for me) and my feet hurt, but we got everything and it felt good!:-)

Kind of a slow start to this month, eh, folks?:-)

4.5 hours of running back and forth between my house and storage place, picking up my grandson and playing bouncy ball with him once the space was almost empty. Got me going and it felt so good to be able to play with him. And my day started out with a flat tire, but it got better from there!

Hmm, stood in line at the bank for half an hour, moved the canopy frame by myself, repaired an loaded two freestanding cabinets, and wrung the sweat out of my t-shirt once and out of my sweatband at least twice.

Not sure any of that counts but tomorrow Wakana and I will start walking and I hope to begin working up my crunches again.

OK, Took a short walk with Wakana, mowed the lawn (riding lawn mower, don't know if that counts), and set up the canopy/garage for the lawn mowers (This involved a lot of moving of concrete blocks. I KNOW this counts!) Spent the rest of the morning sorting and organizing tools.

This afternoon I plan to do a lot of lying around and napping. That doesn't count!

Well, whoo-hoo!! I never thought I'd do such a thing but my grandson is a powerful motivator. He called us from a lake where they'd gone fishing to tell us he'd "caught one!" Of course, we had to go see. So we drove over, it's about 90 degrees in the shade. Had to hike around the lake to get to them, which took me some time, stopping in the shade, what little there was, every now and then. I did it without extra O2 and was able to speak along the way!

There were at least a dozen great herons there, completely comfortable with the people, swooping down to snatch a fish, then away before one of the others could grab it. One of them perched above us in a huge cottonwood with his shoulders hunched up, beady eyes scanning the waters. They are SO graceful and beautiful to watch. Much more sociable than I ever realised.

Anyway, Rog said it was about half a mile, so I am rather pleased I was able to do it. I am sure part of the reason why is the steady bits I've been doing because of this thread and sharing with you all. Thanks, again!

Oh, and I'd already done T-8 this morning.:-)

Woo Weee Kat, you are very lucky to have seen herons that don't mine people. Here in PA they are quite skittish and I feel honored when one sits still long enough for me to take his photo!

Activity? Ah, well, now that my quads have quit screaming from Tuesday's adventure with the personal trainer (and I've had a nice talk with her....making adjustments!), I walked for a few hours today at a low pace and yesterday I pushed (yes PUSHED) the riding lawn mower down (some up) our driveway, a little over a tenth of a mile long. It was HOT and humid so I *am* counting it! LOL

I've missed the activity this week but when your quads make you walk like Frankenstein, someone getting up and down, up and down, up and down off the floor for yoga doesn't sound so much like fun anymore! I'm looking forward to a power yoga class tomorrow!

I suppose it could easily turn into a gab session IF the trainer weren't serious about keeping us on track. We chat at breaks, which she thankfully is very good about giving us...but during the rest of it, we are usually too winded/focused inward to talk. She means business and that's why I like her so much!

I was scheduled to go again today but my body isn't cooperating.
