Subject: Educational or a bit odd? From: Matt_R Date: 04 Jun 08 - 04:28 PM The ice cream truck in my neighborhood plays "Jesse James". |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Wesley S Date: 04 Jun 08 - 04:30 PM It's odd. Unless you start singing along. THEN it becomes educational. |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: SINSULL Date: 04 Jun 08 - 04:31 PM Mine plays "Turkey In The Straw" and "The Entertainer". Some day I am going to shoot him. |

Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: PoppaGator Date: 04 Jun 08 - 05:45 PM If it's the same "Jesse James" I'm thinking of, and assuming that no lyrics are sung, how do you know it's not Woody's "Jesus Christ"? |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Darowyn Date: 04 Jun 08 - 06:11 PM Our local Ice Cream van plays "The Peanut Vendor" There's something odd there! Cheers Dave |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: GUEST,patty o'dawes Date: 04 Jun 08 - 06:13 PM Our ice cream man was found dead under a ton of hundreds and thousands sprinkles. The police say he topped himself. |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: glueman Date: 04 Jun 08 - 06:46 PM Ice cream vans are one of the last sources of wholly unrelated retailing accompaniment motifs. Roll out the barrel? No doubt a sink estate is echoing to chimed phrases from Gotterdammerung and supplying Nibelungen 99s with a crack chaser as we speak. |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Matt_R Date: 05 Jun 08 - 12:22 AM ^ WHAT? |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Little Robyn Date: 05 Jun 08 - 03:23 AM The ones around here still only play Greensleeves. How boring is that? Robyn |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Mr Happy Date: 05 Jun 08 - 05:09 AM The one[s] round here do 'Poppa Piccolina!' |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Dave Roberts Date: 05 Jun 08 - 05:22 AM In Middlewich the current favourite is the 'Wheels Cha Cha', made famous by a man who appeared on TV rippling his muscles in time to the music. That was in the days when we used to have proper entertainment on the telly. In my day....etc.....etc...... |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: glueman Date: 05 Jun 08 - 06:30 AM I remember him Dave on Opportunity Knocks. Hughie Green made great play of the fact he'd been sprayed gold and if the toxic sheen were not washed off immediately the producer cut the scene, presumably by men with jet washes and fallout attire, the muscle man would expire in a paroxism of gilten ripples. A bit weird for my taste, like watching the alimentary canal of an earthworm in a vaguely gay context, but perhaps a cultural totem of sorts. |

Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Black belt caterpillar wrestler Date: 05 Jun 08 - 07:25 AM I remember seeing the muscle rippler along with Hughie Green in pantomime of all things. My father, who had studied anatomy at art school was impressed that he could operate the three muscles in the leg above the kneecap independantly. Apparently in most people they are fused together. Strange wht things stick in your mind. |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Rasener Date: 05 Jun 08 - 07:43 AM Our Ice Cream van has two tunes. "Cocaine" and "Sex and Drugs and Rock N Roll". I have always wondered why he is so popular. |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Mrs.Duck Date: 05 Jun 08 - 02:33 PM Well at the school I used to work at that's mostly what they sold! |

Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: topical tom Date: 05 Jun 08 - 05:44 PM There are no ice cream vans around here. Of course, there are no coneheads either. |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: Sorcha Date: 05 Jun 08 - 06:37 PM Yea, at least you HAVE ice cream wagons! Oh for the Good Old Days.... |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: GUEST,K. Friedman Date: 05 Jun 08 - 07:30 PM We have one old, decrepit looking ice cream wagon that looks like Red Skelton drove it in "The Good Humor Man." A weird little old guy drives it. I don't think he really has any ice cream. He's just "chumming" for young folk. He rings his chimes with "Mrs. Robinson." Sique! |
Subject: RE: Educational or a bit odd? From: GUEST,Lindsay In Wales Date: 05 Jun 08 - 08:17 PM haven't heard one for a while but one of our local ice cream vans used to play, "We'll Keep A Welcome".... |
