Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's All Gone Away (Roger Bryant) From: Herga Kitty Date: 12 Sep 17 - 05:20 PM I tried asking Roger for "The Writing's on the Wall" at Bude festival a few years ago, because a friend at Herga was trying to get hold of a copy, but Roger didn't have one with him. If I see him when we're in Cornwall later this month I might have another go.... Kitty |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's All Gone Away (Roger Bryant) From: Herga Kitty Date: 12 Sep 17 - 05:13 PM Thanks for your kind comments, Hesk, even if slightly off-topic. We weren't at Bromyard - we were helping friends to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Dorset.... Kitty |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's All Gone Away (Roger Bryant) From: Hesk Date: 11 Sep 17 - 06:27 PM It is a shame that he has not put it on his debut CD. How did you enjoy Bromyard? You and Derek were sorely missed at Swanage. We didn't get to the Red Lion, but, I understand the singing was run by the same guy who sang the above song at The Anchor. The Saturday afternoon singaround at The Anchor went well. Howard. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's All Gone Away (Roger Bryant) From: Hesk Date: 11 Sep 17 - 01:10 PM I heard this song sung at Swanage Folk Festival this weekend. I would like the words and tune, if possible. It was written by Roger Bryant, from Cornwall, perhaps, more famously known for Cornish Lads. Alternatively, current info about how to get the CD mentioned above. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: GRex Date: 11 Jun 08 - 12:51 PM Thank you all for your help. I think that I'll get Roger's CD "The Writing's on the Wall". I like all the songs of Roger's that I've heard so far. GRex |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: GUEST,Marion in Cornwall Date: 11 Jun 08 - 07:33 AM Another great song by Roger Bryant - funnily enough he sang it at Wheal Dream last Sunday (you can catch him here most Sundays). |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: Crowdercref Date: 10 Jun 08 - 04:15 PM I confirm it's by Roger Bryant. It was written in the wake of the last major foot and mouth outbreak, and I think I remember him saying it was after a visit to a farm auction in North Cornwall or near Devon. oll an gwella Crowdercref |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: Sue the Borderer Date: 08 Jun 08 - 06:32 PM Yes indeed. It's by Roger Bryant, one of the Cornwall Songwriters. It's called Its all Gone Away and/or Farmers Song and is on his CD "The Writing's on the Wall" Contact me (or Crowdercref or Hawker) if you want details of how to contact Roger. The chorus is actually It's gone, gone, I'm sorry to say It's gone, I can't make it pay It's gone, gone, today's me last day And it's all gone away. It's about a farm being auctioned off after being in the family for 5 generations. Great chorus! Sue |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: Crane Driver Date: 08 Jun 08 - 06:22 PM Well, I've certainly heard the song - it's about the demise of the fishing industry. I'm pretty certain it's Cornish, probably by Roger Bryant. Excellent song. Sorry I don't know the words. Andrew |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: GRex Date: 08 Jun 08 - 08:04 AM Thanks Jim for the info, but I still do not have the lyrics that I want. Is there someone out there who knows this song? GRex |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: Jim Dixon Date: 07 Jun 08 - 02:51 PM Allmusic.com lists several songs called IT'S ALL GONE. Bob Rylett recorded one on his album "It's All Gone." It doesn't say who wrote that one, and there is no sound sample there, but it's the only one classified as "folk." Betty Dempsey recorded one that she wrote; it's on "Country Favorites" and "Tribute to Betty Dempsey." That's the only one they classify as "country." Again, no sound sample. The Waterboys recorded one written by Mike Scott, on "Rock in the Weary Land." They classify that one as "rock." I listened to a sound sample, and it seems unlikely that's the one you want, but I can't be sure. There are several other songs with the same title classified as Blues, Electronic, Jazz, R&B, or Rock. (Rock seems to be the default category that Allmusic.com uses when they don't have a clue how to classify something.) |
Subject: Lyr Req: It's all gone? From: GRex Date: 06 Jun 08 - 04:14 AM I hear this song at festival sing-arounds, I like it and would like to sing it. The chorus, if I remember correctly goes: It's all gone I'm sorry to say It's all gone, I can't make it pay It's all gone .................... It's all gone away. I have been unable to find the lyrics on the web. Can anyone help me please. GRex |
