Just heard this band on Hober. Went looking for more info and found them on CDBaby. Interesting sounds/mix/etc. Here's a little bit about them:

Wily Milo is an old time music string band from the Southern Tier region of Western New York and North Western Pennsylvania. The current members of the group have been playing together since 1993.

Wily Milo String Band plays songs and tunes from the Civil War era and earlier. Most of the tunes are of the Southern persuasion, however the occasional Northern tunes, schottiches, and polkas do pop up.

You may listen to samples at CD Baby. I esp. liked #8 - One Morning in May. I think it is a stunning rendition with stark beauty.

I remember Wily Milo from many concerts and dances.
They played at the Old Songs Festival... maybe ten years ago?

I think the group has broken up now. At least one of the members
is living here near Ithaca. Others are in Olean, NY and/or Bradford, PA.
But if they ever play again it would be worth checking them out.
And, they "live forever" via the magic of recording.

Thanks, Pamela. I was wondering id anyone knew of them. I think they may have lost some members, but from their website and CDBaby, it looks as though they are active and performing.

I took a look at their performance page, and the last
dates listed were 2003. It also lists Mike and Amanda
old address. They've been closer to Ithaca for at least
three or four years. So, the web page may not have
been updated for quite some time.

Maybe someone in Western NY has more current info?

Well, I should have looked more closely!:-) I see the CDBaby thing is dated for 2002. Gee, I hope they are still active. They sound great! Thanks, again, Pamela.
