Subject: Lyr Req: Angelo Dornan - When I wake in the morn. From: GUEST,Norah Date: 11 Jun 08 - 05:20 PM I am looking for the rest of a song that was collected by Helen Creighton from Angelo Dornan in 1954. He recorded only two verses and the melody is gorgeous. When I wake in the morning I go to my window I take a long look o'er the place that I know I'm surrounded by sorrow, will I never see tomorrow? O Jimmie, lovely Jimmie, if you knew what I know. When the boys come to court me they all swear they love me Bur I like a hero I do them disdain, My love's gone and left me, no other man will get me, And I never will marry till he comes back again. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Angelo Dornan - When I wake in the mo From: Anglo Date: 12 Jun 08 - 02:54 AM The song is in Helen's "Maritime Folk Songs" under the title of "When I Wake in the Morning." These seem to be the only verses he sang. The Roud Folksong Index at the Vaughan Williams Library site lists only this version of the song. (Two other attributions are errors). Sorry to disappoint you. Angelo Dornan was a wonderful singer. |
