Subject: Robin in the Rain From: GUEST Date: 18 Jun 08 - 12:16 PM A robin hopped across the path on our morning hike today and we both started to sing the kid;s song Robin in the Rain. I know that Raffi recorded it, and I know it was around before that, but don't know anything else about the song. Can anyone provide any information about it? Bob B. |
Subject: Lyr Add: ROBIN IN THE RAIN (Claire Senior Burke) From: Jim Dixon Date: 04 Jul 08 - 09:20 AM Several sources say ROBIN IN THE RAIN was written by Claire Senior Burke, copyright 1939. Raffi recorded it on "Singable Songs for the Very Young," Shoreline LP SL002 (1976).
Robin in the rain, mind your socks of yellow Running in the garden on your nimble feet Digging for your dinner with your long strong beak Robin in the rain, you don't mind the weather Showers always make you gay But the worms are wishing you would stay at home Robin on a rainy day "The children's own book of songs and silhouettes: songs for kindergarten, primary and home" New York: Carl Fischer; Toronto, Gordon V. Subject: RE: Origin: Robin in the Rain From: Mooh Date: 19 Aug 17 - 02:20 PM I'm looking for biographical information about Clair Senior Burke, who also wrote Our Country's Name Is Canada. Not much luck so far beyond the birth date of 1889 and family obits. Anyone? Thanks. Peace, Mooh. |
