Well, speaking of John Doyle - there is a local Texas lady here-bouts who sort of disappeared, then reappeared and in-between went from being an o.k. "Celtic" guitarist to being a damned good one. I asked her what she had done to become so good at playing tunes on guitar and she referred me to John Doyle's video on DADGAD guitar.
I'm not one to jump at one person's opinion, so how about it folks, is this DVD worth investing in for "Celtic" guitar playing? Cheers.

John Doyle's DVD is very good.

Just from my own experience, though, I will say that Doyle has very long fingers and is capable of decent stretches across the fretboard. I have much smaller hands and simply can't accomplish the stretches he demonstrates. That made part of the tutorial frustrating, personally.

Actually, Doyle uses Drop-D tuning on the DVD and in performance and not DADGAD, as far as I know. He also has an excellent CD-ROM tutorial that is a bit more comprehensive than the Homespun lesson and can be found at Mad For Trad on the net.
