Subject: Lancaster: owt happening? From: the button Date: 05 Jul 08 - 03:09 AM I'll be visiting friends in Lancaster from Wednesday to Sunday afternoon, and was wondering if there's any clubs, sessions or singarounds on at the moment? I've had a quick google, but couldn't find anything up-to-date. Mudcatters are good at this kind of thing -- I found a great session in Cornwall thanks to people on here, so cheers in advance. |

Subject: RE: Lancaster: owt happening? From: Black belt caterpillar wrestler Date: 07 Jul 08 - 07:27 AM Depending on whether we have enough people not off on holiday John O' Gaunt Morris Men should be dancing at the Royal in Heysham Village on Wednesday night and we'll retire to the bar afterwards. There's the Gregson on Thursday and there may be a session in the Bowling Green next to Booth's Supermarket on Friday (can't get to that one we're off to Ely Festival). I'm not sure if the Golden Lion still has a session on a Sunday night and there is an occasional session at Yealand Conyers that night (still away at Ely!). |
Subject: RE: Lancaster: owt happening? From: the button Date: 07 Jul 08 - 08:06 AM Wow. Thanks everyone. It might be a bit slower, but this place is better than google. |
Subject: RE: Lancaster: owt happening? From: GUEST, Sminky Date: 07 Jul 08 - 08:49 AM Does anyone know if you can still get nettle beer in Heysham? |
Subject: RE: Lancaster: owt happening? From: Blowzabella Date: 07 Jul 08 - 07:16 PM Fraid not, Sminky - we used to get a stock to take to trade fairs, as a local delicacy, but it can't be got any longer |
Subject: RE: Lancaster: owt happening? From: GUEST, Sminky Date: 08 Jul 08 - 05:17 AM Shame. I last had some about 10 years ago. Thanks for the (sad) info, Blowzabella. |
Subject: RE: Lancaster: owt happening? From: Ross Campbell Date: 08 Jul 08 - 10:34 PM Nettle beer used to be available from the cafe opposite the car park. Definitely had some a few years back, forgot to look last year. Ross |
Subject: RE: Lancaster: owt happening? From: GUEST, Sminky Date: 09 Jul 08 - 05:53 AM I think that's where I last had mine, Ross. According to Heysham Tourist Information on AboutBritain.com, you can still get it. But I don't know how 'official' that is, or how up-to-date. |
