Subject: Worlds of Trad July 2008 Upload From: Fred McCormick Date: 10 Jul 08 - 06:52 AM Just to remind folks that the July 2008 edition of Worlds of Trad Internet radio is now uploaded. The new programme will be on-line until Wednesday August 13th, and features a minimum of three hours of the very best in traditional folk, ethnic, world, roots, blues, old time country and early jazz; in fact traditional music from absolutely everywhere. The complete playlist is below but I can tel you that this month's humungous hullabaloo includes a fistful of boogie woogie and piano blues from Leroy Carr, Black Boy Shine and Pine Top Smith; there's a salute to Joseph Taylor's centenary debut as a recording artist; and there's the usual round up of world musical traditions, while the Copper Family, Harry Cox, Lizzie Higgins, Joe Heaney, Sarah Makem and Walter Pardon remind us that there's good stuff nearer home. We take in some excellent tracks from new CDs by Carmel Gunning and Shira U'tfiula, and we revisit recent releases from Bobby Casey and Elizabeth Bennett. We bump into some songs of erotic encounter from Dillard Chandler, Bob Hart, Jane Turriff, Davy Menash and Jean Ritchie; I dig a couple of LPs North Carolina music out of the attic; Jimmy McBeath, Toady Rudd and Hedy West pontificate about the weather; Percy Humphrey's Crescent City Joymakers, Riley Puckett and Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger take the Old Spinning Wheel for a spin, and Jelly Roll Morton's Red Hot Peppers tell them to keep it on the sidewalk. And after all my hard work of assembling the programme, the Jali Musa Bolu Koi Ensemble have the cheek to tell us God Did It. He didn't. I did. All that and much much more, as I always say. You can listen to the programme by visiting http://www.live365.com/stations/oneworldmusic , and clicking on the yellow speaker button. If you haven't listened before you'll need to follow the onscreen instructions to download the station player. Then wait a moment for the ads to clear, press the yellow PLAY button and the station will be on the air. Then if you press the green button to the right, you can set Worlds of Trad as a preset (which means you won't have to go searching for it next time you listen in). As always we're on a 24/7 continuous loop. So you can pick the show up at any time and hear it right through. The music is great, listening is free and I'm always glad to receive requests. Worlds of Trad has just got to be the hottest station on the Internet. As yet another summer turns into a deluginous disaster, there's holiday sunshine for everyone here in cyberspace.
