SOMETIMES
Songwriter unknown

Sometimes you can find flowers in the snow,
Somewhere, anywhere, you can see them grow.
If you want to see, just come along with me,
There's no need to hurry, worry, what's the hurry?
Sometimes, sometimes is now.

Sometimes, in your mind, music seems to sound,
Some song, any song, going round and round.
Songs are in the air, and music everywhere,
Listen to the children singing, bells are ringing.
Sometimes, sometimes is now.

Sometimes, in the wind, you can feel the sea,
Sometimes, any time, blowing fast and free.
Now's the time to choose, and there's no time to lose,
Just leave everyone behind you, they won't find you.
Sometimes, sometimes is now.
Sometimes, sometimes is now.

I learnt this from someone at Newbury Folk Club in the late 60s/ early 70s. It may have been Bob Sillence, who often sang there with wife Angie (where are they now?), but I don't think he wrote it. I've guessed at the title! Anyone know who wrote it please?

Allan Taylor. He has a record called Sometimes which seems to have been recorded in the early 70s, with an acknowledgement to Fairport on the cover.
Kilderkin recorded it here in NZ back in the late 70s.

"Flower in the Snow", also by Allan Taylor IIRC, is a different song altogether.

Are you looking for those lyrics?

Françoise Hardy recorded SOMETIMES on her album "If You Listen," 1972. There is a 1:30 sound sample at her official web site, and the lyrics correspond to those Jay777 posted in the first message.

No songwriter is credited at her web site, but this lyrics site credits Allan Taylor.

The label on the 'Sometimes' LP credits Allan Taylor and Myles Wootton for the song. The date given for the album is 1971 - United Artists UAS-5529.

Thanks for the link, Jim. That is my song, although the tune I heard (some 38-ish years ago!) is very slightly different.
