Lovely reviews in fRoots and Mojo, and on Mike Harding too.
Glad it seems to be going down well!

Just wanted to say 'thank you' to Laura, Diggory, Phil and everyone else involved with the production of this CD. The choice of songs is perfect: some of the favourites that we all feel Tony made his own, together with some that I suspect he would probably never have chosen to record (!), but which are absolute gems. This is an ideal memento of an evening in Tony's company, showing his love of tradtional song, mastery of ballads, connection with his audience ... and a wicked sense of fun! Thank you.

Helen

Phil.
Further to our chat at the party, after having had a closer listen, you were absolutely right to "dirty up" the mastered version.
It adds so much more to the vibe of the whole CD.
Well done again
Regards Ralph Jordan

Further to last bulletin. Distribution date is now fixed for 13th October. Just verifying online shop stuff again prior to (hopefully successful!) upload. The album will be available for download close to the release date as will the other CR albums.

Yes Folks.
Technical problem but now should be sorted. I'll post here
tomorrow as soon as it goes live. This edition of the album was a special four hundred copy run for the Sidmouth launch. We'll have the next run to distribution shortly. After that it should start to appear in all the usual places. It will also be up for download. Any non UK dealers/ distributors just email me through the CR website.
The D&B album will be there as well but anyone can now get it through Talking Elephant where it resides.

Thanks to all the lovely folks who've stopped to chat at Sidmouth this year about the album. This project has brought lots of people I've not seen for ages out of the woodwork.

Phil B

Phil has about a fortnight before he goes out on the road messing about with Knightley again, so I expect the Chudleigh Roots stuff will get sorted in that "window of opportunity".

When you eventually stop off in the shop, buy the new Downes & Beer Live @ Nettlebed album as well. Lovely CD.

No Jon, you're not being dim - it's not up there. Lizzie posted the link before there was anything up on the site. In fact the message she posted from Phil quite clearly states that the sales WILL be up on the site... but as I suspect he's quite busy (since he was at Sidmouth last week, and I suspect may be elsewhere at the moment) I'd guess that it may be a little longer than the week he suggested !! The CD's sold at Sidmouth appear to have been a short run - only 400 of them, with a note on the CD to say that further copies would be available later.... but it's worth the wait [grin]

I tried the chudliegh roots link - got there ok - but couldn't find any mention of the Tony Rose cd.

Am I just being dim? (no change there, then)

Hello James (Yorkshire)

The release of this CD has NOTHING to do with Dave Bulmer....
The family wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
(Neither would anyone else, if they had any sense)

It was made with great affection by Tony's family, and the generosity of many friends.

So, it's safe to purchase.....Please do

Regards Ralph

Tony was a hero of my dad, I would love to have a copy of this C:d. but he said if it has anything to do with Dave Bulmer then he can do without it, he has loads of old tapes of Tony and he plays them fairly often.

Re the dodgy link - it looks as though that's a website error... the link from Chudleigh Roots Myspace page is also malfunctioning ... so, as instructed in the error message I've reported it to the administrator of the website ... in the meantime, if Phil pops in here, maybe he can get something sorted out....?

Hi Dick.

I would contact Phil Beer via the Show Of Hands website.
Not sure how long it'll be until he gets another pressing sorted out. But, I'm sure you'll be able to strike a deal with him.
Well worth the effort, I know that Tony had many fans in the US.
In fact 3 tracks were recorded in the Eagle Tavern NYC in 1981!

Good Luck

Cheers Ralphie

Also just back from Sidmouth, where I was lucky enough to purchase a copy and have a short chat with Phil ... just playing the CD now, having just got back from the railway station and put my feet up with a cup of coffee (I'd have played it earlier while away, but the portable CD player with me ran out of battery power ... Grrrr!!). Congratulations to all involved ... well worth the wait. Judging from the scrum around the sales area, and the fact that some people (like me) were buying more than one copy of the CD, I'll echo Ralphie's comment that I would think it's quite possible that the limited edition of 400 may well have sold out by now. I can't wait to pass on one of the copies to my unsuspecting sister who has been a fan of Tony's singing for many years. (By the way, the champagne and chocolate cake were very enjoyable - many thanks !!)

Just got back from Sidmouth.
Tony's CD launch party was lovely.
Great to see Megan, Laura, and Phil there.
Have just had my first chance to hear the CD.
It's wonderful, Laura......WELL DONE!

The first pressing was only 400 copies (all of which will probably have gone by now!). But Mr Beer is going to repress it soon.
Check out his web-site Chudleigh Records.

No doubt CAMSCO will do the honours for the American market.

Just a wonderful (if a bit emotional) occasion

Regards Ralphie

Hi Folks
Tonys album will be up on the chudleighroots web shop next week. Distribution follows very shortly.
We will all be at Daves record emporium on the Monday 4th August, Sidmouth Folk Week @ 3pm. We've all just OKayd the sleeve notes and it goes to print tomorrow. Have to say the early pic of Tony playing an old harmony sovereign is very poignant to me. Both Myself and Steve Knightley have recently been lucky enough to acquire examples of this classic guitar. A final peruse of the music will take place on thursday while I'm in Oxfordshire then the master will be at the manufacturers on friday. I'm at the welsh proms in cardiff tonight with SK, Paul Downes, and Fishermans friends. Paul was a huge admirer of Tony and we've just looked at the PDF of the artwork and raised a glass! Roll on Sidmouth.
