Just a thought, but when you think about 'the Folk scene / Folk /Folkies' what do you think about?
What stirs your imagination. What's your uptake on it?
Does it immediately conjure up a particular feeling (warm or cold), of particular events/people/music etc.?
Can you describe what it means to YOU?
I know it's a very open question but I would love to know.
Just a thought.

Singarounds, sessions, good ale, hopefully good acoustics, a special kind of atmosphere that other live music does not provide.... and most of all... the good company of others of a like mind.

In general, songs about life and the human spirit, especially those about change for the better.

In particular, and immediately, I "feel" the the social justice, the protest, the compassion and sense of community associated with the songs.
