When looking at the history of a page, if one sees this at the top...

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Bozo the Clown(Talk) at 12:00, 25 December 2008. It may differ significantly from the current revision.

What this means is that the version one is looking at is the most recent version and that the person named is the one who made the most recent edit.

In order to see what that edit was, it is necessary to look at the actual edit. So for instance, Crusty the Clown might have made an edit to a page (lets say the Circus Clown page), in which Crusty accuses Bozo of having an affair with Beppo the Clown, and also saying that Chuckles the Clown put itch powder in Beppo's face cream. Bozo might see that and decide that he wants to remove the reference pertaining to himself, but leave in the reference to Chuckles (because Bozo knows that Chuckles can remove that reference himself).

What happens then, is that anyone who looks at the history will see that the most recent change was made by Bozo, and they will see the reference made by Crusty about Chuckles. It might be easy to conclude that Bozo was the one who added the bit about Chuckles, but that would be an incorrect conclusion.

I'll see whether that permanent link pointed out by Jeri can be removed. I also made a permanent link to the current and correct version of the site, in case of future vandalism. Probably because the article is so new, the vandalism was not dealt with as swiftly as I would have hoped for.

If you register with Wikipedia you can add the article to your watchlist, and monitor it every time you into Wikipedia.

This peer continues to hold Carol in High esteem, and finds her writing style infinitely superior to that of the wiki-troll.

Folks, get your last words in, as I am about to close this thread. Clearly we had one of our long term trolls up to no-good, they are getting a kick out of watching us cannibalize ourselves, and mistakes were made in tracking it down. I am going to give it another 5 minutes of discussion time and then shut it down.
    Thanks.

Jeri,

For some reason you are choosing not to listen to what Joe and Mick are saying. Its making you look pretty foolish because they are making a lot of sense. You obviously have some axe to grind with Carol. I'm sure that you would like to catch he in some terrible act but all she did in this case was delete a comment aim at you and her and most other women on this forum.

People should click on 'newer edit' (or older edit as the case may be) to see the nasty shit written AFTER you edited out the bit about women, right before Amos tried to help by editing it out. If you edited out the stuff about women, you also added all the later shit.

You've been caught. Live with it.

PDQ posted the second vandalism. Here's the first:
The Mudcat Cafe is a discussion group which also includes some features relating to folk music. It started in October 1996.

The discussion group (the Forum) is divided into music-related and non-music-related topics. The music-related section helps you locate lyrics and song titles and "Where are they now". The other section (non-music) is a place for a selected number of members to discuss everyday matters such as events in Israel and freedom of minority groups in the US. Please note the non-music section of the site is for a small selected group of members only. If you post a comment which is not about a minority group or Israel it will be removed by a moderator.

We have a wide base of members on "the cat" from bored moms to plastic Irish republicans.

Among other services provided by Mudcat is a Mudcat Songbook that presents MP3 recordings of songs that have been written by Mudcatters.

The site was originally founded by the great Max Spiegel. Joe O runs the cat these days and now brings a distinctly Jewish favour to the site. So if you care to come on-board please do so, remember no posting on the site by "guests".
As far as I can tell, both versions of the vandalism came from "Efexor1." There were some interim revisions that took our parts of the vandalism, but not all - that has the unfortunate consequence of making it appear that the person making the repairs could have been the vandal.

Interesting.

-Joe O-

Carol is correct, I have gone back through the history. If she is 65.184.174.196, then she edited out the offending line about women. She did not edit out anything else.

I misread the history. Efexor1 is the person who made the anti semitic, and disparaging remarks. Not 65.184.174.196.

The Mudcat Cafe

The Mudcat Cafe is an online discussion group which covers some items relating to folk music. It's been about since October 1996.

The discussion group (the Forum) is divided into music-related and non-music-related topics. Please understand the non-music section only permits threads relating to Israel (these must be pro-positive)and good causes, the type of things us old hippies tend to favour, like Gay Rights, legalising drugs, banning Nuclear weapons and free love man. The music-related section hosts lively discussions on American folk music, British folk music and that of many other cultures, origins and lyrics of songs, and related information. (If your topic is not pro Israel, it will be deleted). Here also Mudcatters provide and maintain information on a large number of folk clubs, folk festivals, music sessions and dances around the world. We also boast the greatest collection of plastic Irish republican paddies found on the web.

Among other services provided by Mudcat is a Mudcat Songbook that presents MP3 recordings of songs that have been written by Mudcatters, some of the songs are hard to listen too, and please do not encourage members by asking them about their music, otherwise they will send you a CD or two of their woeful renderings !

Origin of the name: The original Blues forum, founded by Max Spiegel, was named for a Mississippi Delta region catfish. This region was the birthplace of the American Delta Blues style. The fish is locally known as a Mudcat. Hence, a good name for a Blues forum. The forum has changed recently with Joe Offend now leading the moderators into the battle against anything this old herd of has-beens don't agree with ! Their is also a fine collection of women who have saw their best years and now watch their bits head south.

The revision I made is here...

This was after Efexor1 started the ball rolling, and then deleted his/her page in Wiki. One can only surmise who Efexor1is.

Folks that decide to do mischief on Wiki, ought to read how it works before they jump in. By not reading how it works, you allowed your IP to be posted. That, of course, allows one to figure out who made the anti semitic, and defamatory remarks. But it doesn't surprise me.

It appears the entry was started by someone who is banned. Is that Guest Gulliver? Are you Hohenloh?

It looks like Exfor1 started with slamming the site and 65.184.174.196 came in (or is it the same party, not logged on?) as did 66.237.213.130. That one took out useful text and left in the slam at Joe Offer.

I created the original article and have been updating it almost on a daily basis, but haven't been on the net over the past couple of days, so I did not notice the vandalism until today. I reverted the whole article to the state it was before the vandalism started.

I was a little put out that Amos suspected me of vandalizing my own article, as a quick search of my posts would have showed that I've taken a lot of trouble, and consulted several people before creating the article or updating.

Quick fix, that.

There is a link there to some {apparently} out of date information on the DT that needs some updating...you out there, Susan or Dick?

Good thing we're not insecure here on the 'cat! I reckon it says a whole lot more about the writer than our (mostly) kind and friendly little forum. The generosity of spirit I've witnessed here in the few short months I've been on is truly something to cherish, and those few detractors who enjoy baiting others, we can pity their small bitter hearts and not let them get the rest of us down. Long live Mudcat!
Cheers,
Quokka

The heading south bit isn't there anymore.

This is an example of why I often say, in effect, that articles on Wikipedia need to be read with healthy dose of skepticism.

I would lean towards British, Ebbie. The "their is" spelling is particularly prevalent over here... Also the "heading south" expression.

Gulliver also asked me the same thing, Amos - but I recognise nothing of mine in that text! That was only last Friday, so I don't think he'd have had time yet. My guess is, it must be someone else.

regards

I have reason to believe this was written by a person using the handle Gulliver, here on the Cat. He wanted permission to use some of my language from a thread, which I gave freely.

I have np idea whether he is the sole author or whether his original work has been graffiti'd.

In any case it is a rather jejeune and short-sighted piece of work.

"Their is" and "have saw".

Interesting spelling and grammar.

I found it childish, and as such worthier of pity and derision than taking offense. Of course, I am neither named personally, nor is the general direction of my "bits" stipulated. I only share in the "herd of has-beens" alongside the rest of y'all...

...here it is, in case of modification or worse:

Among other services provided by Mudcat is a Mudcat Songbook that presents MP3 recordings of songs that have been written by Mudcatters, some of the songs are hard to listen to, and please do not encourage members by asking them about their music, otherwise they will send you a CD or two of their woeful renderings !

Their is also a fine collection of women who have saw their best years pass them and now watch their bits head south.
