Now, if it's folk music you want, you can get downloads almost free at http://efolkmusic.org/. You have to sort through some singer-songwriter stuff, but there are good downloads available at the site.

Now, if you're willing to pay about 25 cents a cut, you can go to www.emusic.com - you'll find most of the Folkways, Shanachie, Fellside, and Topic catalogues; plus County, Document, Arhoolie, and a lot of other traditional folk.
