Hallo all , so thats known now that I can not come to the Getaway
there s no money left to use for plessure this year .

5000 $ to fix my roof , on my house .

and the Econamy here in Iceland is bad and all prices is up long way up .

so who are not coming to the Getaway ?? becouse of the Econamy crises ??

I was so looking forward to singing with you, Skarpi!!

I do hope to be there this year. But, if the Getaway was being held in Iceland, I am sure I would not make it for economic reasons.

I'm sorry to hear you won't be with us this year. We'll hope to see you next year, and perhaps we'll talk about visiting you. Are you still planning an Icelandic Mudcat 'happening'?

Tom and I can't make it again this year -- I had no income for six months, and now I'm working a job where I can't take that much time off, even if I could afford to (which I can't, alas). And by that time Tom will be back on a project at the test factory (we hope!!!) and thus can't take a short sabbatical from that paycheck, either.

Or, as the adjudicator at my Employment Security hearing last spring said, "Where in New Hampshire law does it state your employer has to give you a vacation?"

Linn, feeling more like a wage slave than ever. (Don't get me wrong; I'm glad I've got a JOB!!!)

This is so not-news, I hesitate to even mention it, but for yet another year, I'll be continuing my perfect record of non-attendance.

Maybe someday, not too many more years into the future.

The very small and select group of Mudcatters whom I've actually met in person will be represented (I think!) in the persons of Tinker (who so graciously lent me her guitar during my months of flood-exile in New Jersey) and ~ briefly ~ by crazy-ass Bobert (who I was able to visit in Luray during one of my many trips back and forth between NJ and NO during those hectic post-Katrina days).

So, all of y'all say hi to each other for me!

The only other two I've met will not, I don't think, be in attendance: Jed Marum, who's probably on tour as usual, and Ernest, who is in Germany now and most of the time, but who managed a trip to New Orleans a while ago.

The list of folks who I hope can 'eventually' make it grows shorter each year as some finally do (like ClaireBear and ArtBrooks)...then grows longer again as we 'meet' more folks here..

I suppose that if everyone who wants to come picked the same year, we WOULD have a problem with this nice, but size-limited camp.

Skarpi, I got a new roof too. Things still hang in the balance, but I'm cooking for a second music camp for which I thought I'd just get camp, and they want to pay me. Let's see, what would the Getaway and a plane ticket be??
