For anyone who hasn't yet seen and heard Jake playing 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps' on ukelele in Central Park then IMHO you're missing a wonderful experience.

This remains one of my very fav. videos. Here's a link from a previous thread to his BIO, of sorts.

Wonderful in concert too -- but expensive, given that you have to go out and buy a ukulele afterwards.

Wow, just listening to another video of him playing the tune he composed for a movie called Hula Girl. It's more produced than his other videos, but what a beautiful tune and his playing is fantastic.

Anyone know the name of this tune: click. It almost sounds like something written by the Argentinian, Gustavo Santaollala.

Kat, it's "Crosscurrent," which I believe Jake wrote. He recorded it on an album of the same name in 2003. However, that was before he started recording his music without using backup musicians, so the CD recording is nothing like the Youtube.

Basically, there's nothing like seeing Jake live. I note that he is performing at two venues in Idaho (Hailey and Idaho Falls) early next April -- perhaps he could be persuaded to swing southeast into Colorado then?

Also, FYI, I found this info on his Web site (www.jakeshimabukuro.com):

World Cafe Broadcast Featuring Jake

"The World Cafe will be broadcasting the session on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008.

"This episode of the World Cafe features the Philadelphia Folk Festival and spotlights the performances of Jake Shimabukuro and The Felice Brothers.

"National Public Radio's World Cafe with host David Dye can be heard on nearly 200 stations nationwide."

Nice interview with video of Jake playing on PRI's The World, yesterday. He's so darn cute, too!

Also a nice audio of him explaining some of his strumming techniques HERE.

I heard him on pandora radio, today. One of my created stations is instrumental folk which brings me lots of Fahey, Kottke and others including Jake.

Anyway, today, it played a cut of his called Wish On My Star, which led me to find out he has a CD which you may sample HERE!
