This popular duo did a very good appearance at the Sunray Folk Club. Under-rated, they gave us one of our most rewarding evenings.
And good company too.

But keep the battenburgs out of sight

Heard them at Sidmouth. Their voices complement each other very well . Particularly like their rendition of "Union Miners".

Heck. Thought this thread would be about a delightful British parody of Frankie n Johnny.

I've only just seen this thread, because I stayed on in Dorset to go to the Wareham Wail, and only arrived home this evening.... 7 years a Mudcat member and have for the first time seen my name in a thread title!

Thanks for the kind words from the UK Catters - I know who you all are, and that you're all fine performers in your own right! Oh, and for Leeneia's benefit, several of you would be capable of writing the Frankie n Johnny parody.

See some of you at Banbury or Bedworth, I hope, where we'll be running singarounds.

Kitty

Oh, they meant HERGA Kitty. Well of course I know Herga Kitty. That's all right then.

Great harmonies together - wonderful couple! Not only brilliant singers but great at running singarounds together as well.

There is a wonderfully hilarious Scottish parody of "Frankie and Johnny", written at Rutherglen High school a good few years ago, and entitled "Mary and Bothwell" (about Mary Queen of Scots): it's sung a lot this side of the Border, and includes the death of Rizzio.
Don't have the words in an easily pasteable form, but I'll post them some time.
In the meantime, hello Kitty and Derek and thanks for your lovely singing at Sidmouth.

I forgot to mention that we're running singarounds here at Swanage next weekend too - looking at the weather forecast, any dancers welcome to come and sing while they dry out!

I love them singing together, and separately.
I do wish Kitty would keep her hand off Derek's hairy legs though ;)

JM

PS That second sentence is a joke, BTW.
