Yes its that time of year again when 20 plus songwriters perform for FREE at the TAYBANK HOTEL in DUNKELD from 11.00am to 11.00pm . Thats 12 hours of free live music.
This is the third year so if you have not been before why not. Oh yes you budding singer/songwriters could always try and get a space for next years festival.

Can you possibly, please, for future years, set up an email list for songwriters in this part of Scotland, and maybe beyond, to receive more than 5 days' warning of the event? I missed it completely last year, and could possibly have come this year, given a bit more notice. Or even consider setting up a website for songwriters' groups?
Suggest you post on www.footstompin.com which would get you more of a Scottish distribution. I am on the Foakies (Edinburgh) email list, but haven't heard about it through this channel either.
BTW, I think I'm more than budding, probably in the "autumn leaves begin to fall" category now!
TB

Hello Tattie Bogle.
I take your point it does want a bit more publicity. I try and do my bit to help out posting on some sites and sticking up posters in my town. Others do the same.
Some of those appearing are also in the Autumn of their career.

Tom Fairnie and the Snakes, Andi Neate, Bob Davidson, Nick Allmark, Adriana, Elie Street, Angie Wright, Donald Buick, are on the list as are many more....
Cant remember seeing Vinnie James tho.

Well I was a bit late getting there as I had to work in the morning so I missed Angie Wright who it seems did a very good set.
Her song " Layla" about subjugation of women in Kabul inspired by a chacter in the book " the Book seller of Kabul" proved very interesting as did "Cry of the World" a song about global warming and mans denial of the effect and whose fault it is!
Still I got a copy of her CD signed of course.
Loved Andi Neate who sang with Inge great Harmonies, Inge did a solo set later in the day ,lovely voice.
Upset that Bob Davdson was too ill to appear . Big pity as he is a great entertainer with his very funny songs. He also writes a good play.
In my humble opinion Best was Ciaran Dorris. A very powerful performance.Again got a copy of his CD. His tale of Nashville and The song " Amy Rigbys Shoe" in particular was superb.

Lots of others to many to mention in what would just be a list made for a great day.
I enjoyed the day in fine weather as promised and have my diary marked for the next one in 2009. It on Saturday Sept 5th. So see you there.
