Hello All

This Monday, 8th September, our guests at th Waltham Abbey Folk Club Are Ron Taylor & Jeff Gillett. Ron Taylor began singing traditional folk song with harmony group The Songwainers over thirty-five years ago. He has also performed unaccompanied song solo, with Sue Burgess and with another highly regarded harmony group: Regal Slip. He began working with Jeff Gillett in the late nineteen-eighties. Jeff Gillett is best known as a sensitive and inventive accompanist on guitar, mandola, English concertina and Appalachian dulcimer. As well as accompanying Ron, he is an experienced solo performer, with a diverse repertoire that leans towards traditional folk.

I have been a fan of Ron's ever since I saw him in the early days with the Songwainers. His voice is still as beautiful as it was all those years ago. Jeff's sensitive accompaniment to the songs is absolutely right. I would also like to spend an evening just listening to him playing guitar. Be prepared for a wonderful evening and view them on MySpace to hear a preview of their music.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club meets every Monday at 8:30 p.m. at The Royal British Legion, Brooker Street, Waltham Abbey Essex. Singers, musicians, poets, storytellers and audience welcome.

Lynne Heraud
