Managed to get to Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Lots of good variety. The acts I liked the best were Jez Lowe, Ron Trueman-Border, Treebeard, Stitherum and Gwenda & Terry Cater.

A big thanks to all those people who put so much effort in to make the festival possible. It was nice to be able to turn up and just listen. So often the massive amount of work put in by the organisers goes unnoticed. So well done you Gainsboroughites.

No problem Rockhen, bring the whole of Caistor wiith you!.

Stan DID perform the Stripey Jumper song and an ace song it was too. Plus he sang a song having a dig at Mike D, which I assume is what he was busy composing while at lunch.

Brilliant stuff!.

Hey BBP, thanks to all who worked hard on today's events at the Festival. Thought the singing workshop was interesting and the songwriting was brilliant with Stan (Ace jumper :-) lol) the man. He was fascinating and I wished we could have spent longer as it finished too soon. If he ever does the song we started all together, I would love to hear it. Picked up some useful tips re writing daft songs and was lovely to see the way he worked on funny songs.
He had his lunch in the same place as us and he wrote furiously whilst eating so I wonder if another masterpiece was born!
Looking forward to tomorrow's afternoon concert, (Sunday) glad Villan mentioned the clock change because we had forgotten!
Any chance of another 2 tickets put by.... 7 needed now, if possible. 2 slightly reluctant teenagers being dragged along :-)

A fine start at the United Services Club last night. Excellent sets from Hamish Currie, Fyrish, John Kelly (he of the harmonium!) and the cast-iron lungs of Graeme Knights. Great stuff, and a portent of wonderful things to come, methinks.

Have a good 'un guys.

Les, there is a bar which will serve soft drinks as well but I don't know about tea and coffee at USC. Eight Jolly Brewers definitely don't serve tea and coffees.

As noted above, there is Cafe 54 and also Riverside Cafe on the riverside walk.

It's nearly time for the off!

Trust you to think about your stomach, Les! I really don't know the answer to your question, but Trent Port (just over the bridge) does an all day carvery for about £3.50(vgv) - although be warned that it nearly doubles in price on Sunday.

It realy was an excellent experience for us and would love to go again.
T.A were absolutely brilliant and the whole event was so well run and welcoming I would tell anyone who can get along to go.
And take yer instruments for the ride out there were lots of chances to play and meet the guest performers.
The members of Gainsbro FC make this a special weekend for everyone and the pride they show in their town and as hosts is spot on.
PS if you bump into BBP make sure she takes aminute to join in the singarounds etc.

Les,

The United Services Club is on the river side, on the north side of the bridge. For parking, use the side roads opposite or park in the Trent Port car park across the bridge and walk back. DN21 1LP

Gateway Club on Spital Terrace is opposite Farm & Forest whose postcode is DN21 2HE.

Eight Jolly Brewers is in Ship Court which is at the rear of the car park on Bridge Street. DN21 2DW.

Hi Deirdre
The festival looks great! Can you buy tickets for single events? I would love to go to everything but can't make it for all. Are there tickets left for the songwriting workshop? If so, I would like at least 1, possibly more but will get back to you, once I know if there are any left. Also, are there any tickets left for the concert with G & T, Paul Pearson etc on the Sunday afternoon?
Hoping to catch up with a few people I haven't seen for ages.
All the best with preparations.
