Someone told me there was a thread about Wetherby here. Thanks very much to whoever started it! I'm one of the people organising the festival, it will be really great to see some of you there.

Can I just say that it's an indoor venue, though we'll have a bar marquee just outside the school where people can have a singalong and join in a session or two? Hoping that a local brewery will produce a festival ale for us in time too.

Another slight correction. Wetherby Festival isn't a new festival - we're a biennial festival that began in 1977 and our folk gigs are always really popular! We've had the likes of Kathryn Tickell, Kate Rusby, Julie Fowlis & Dochas, Sam Pirt, and Maire ni Chathasaigh and Chris Newman in the past. This year is our 'fallow' year so we decided to put on a folk weekend, but we're already thinking about 2009.

Anyway, hope to see one or two of you there. Any questions, please feel absolutely free to contact us via the email address on our main website.

Cheers.
Debbie

Thanks - look forward to seeing you here! Small correction - due to logistical problems over siting of the marquee at the venue, we won't now be having one, but facilities for bar/sessions/singarounds away from the main venue will be available regardless.

Hi Folkiedave - unfortunately we can't offer any camping facilities for the folk weekend. There are quite a few campsites in the local area, within a 10 mile radius or so.

Sorry I didn't reply before, was enjoying Otley FF @ the weekend. It was great.

We'll be there.....unfortunatley not until the middle of the evening....the kids are insisting on going trick & treating first!!!

Should be a great event, some excellent acts on.

Can't make Friday but we were planning to come on Saturday. Unfortunately, the family party for my granddaughter's first birthday seems to have been moved from Sunday to Saturday because my son (who's a policeman) has had his duty roster changed. We'll have to see what happens. I assume we can buy tickets on the door.

Yes that should be possible, Leveller. Such is life in these days of folk leaving their gig-going decisions to the last minute.

Don't know about New York, but I know where I'm going to be this weekend - hopefully the craic will be mighty. :-)
