My band Round the House has 3 cds on CD Baby. We like the way the company works for musicians, and there are a lot more pigeonholes than just "folk" or "celtic", so you can find music you like more easily.

Another good way to use CDBaby is to search for a song. You need to use Google to do this, since CDBaby's own search feature doesn't provide for it. In Google, if you're searching for, say, BLOW THE MAN DOWN, you would set up your Google search argument as

"blow the man down" site:cdbaby.com

It's even easier if you have the Google toolbar installed.

I like CDBaby because it gives longer sound samples (2 minutes) than other web sites like amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and allmusic.com, that only give 30 seconds to one minute. That's usually enough to give you at least one whole verse and chorus. That's very useful if you need a quote to do further searching.

Marty, your guitar picking reminds me some of my dad's. Thanks...I like that.

Arnie, you and Kathy sound great, too. I am really enjoying listening!

Every once in a while, I like to search CDBaby and listen to someone I've never heard before. Tonight, I put "Leo Kottke" in the search there to see if anyone might be doing something like his stuff. I was pleasantly surprised to find several interesting CDs, but the one that really stood out was the eponymous "Jeff Wahl.". It's a nice mix of mellow to fun to beautiful and catching, imo.

I did a search and didn't come up with anything on him, here, so maybe he's new to some of you, too?

My thinking is this thread can be a place for any of us to post links to favs we find on CDBaby, including "Udder Mudders."

Thanks,

kat
