can someone identify the source of the four Patrick Galvin tracks included in this Margaret Barry CD:
Forever Gold(NL) FG492 An Irish Tinkerlady
the four tracks by Galvin:
1 The Lark In The Clear Air
2 The Royal Blackbird
7 The Maid of the Sweet Brown Knowe
16 The Jackets of Green

Note: These four titles are listed on Riverside 12-608 Irish Love Songs, but I am unable to compare them.

Also, If anyone has copies of any Patrick Galvin record issued by TOPIC (78's or lp's), please PM me.

Thanks, Thomas.

Are you talking about this Patrick Galvin?

The film Song For A Raggy Boy (with Aidan Quinn) is based on his memoirs of being in one of Cork's industrial schools - sort of like reform school except that you didn't have to do anything bad to get sent there. All you had to do was be unlucky. It got a standing ovation at the Sundance Festival. Worth a watch if it ever comes on TV or to a local art-house cinema.

He gives poetry readings around here occasionally. Thomas, you might be able to contact him through Aosdána, though I'm not sure which is better, an email or a paper letter. Snailmail is slower, but it's a concrete item which can be kept, filed, passed on etc. Anyway:

You could also try putting your query to the Irish Traditional Music Archive:
