Sorry, I can't help with chords. But, for those who are interested, I found 2 recordings on Spotify:

WHERE THE MULCHAIR RIVER FLOWS, performed by ULC on "Spring" (2000)

WHERE THE MULKERE RIVER FLOWS, performed by John Beag on "Tá an Workhouse Lán" (2010)

ULC is a Denmark-based trio consisting of Peter Uhrbrand, Sonnich Lydom, and Seamus Cahill. The record label is Danish and most of the songs on the album have Danish titles. What you hear on that cut is a fine male voice (Cahill, if I had to guess) accompanied by piano and guitar. ive ived in doon for 6 years now and cant ever imagine living anywhere else,im a scot away from home but never a day do i feel homesick when the folk of doon meet and greet ya

this song was written by my grandfather Bill Griffin of Doon who had the farm out at the mulchair river by the Toher Castle. My late mother sang it all the time and told me her father wrote it. I had searched for the words and thrilled to finally find it. It is often confused with Newport Town which has the same air I believe.

Does anyone know older people now living in Doon, Co. Limerick.

Here's a description of the album Newport Town by Denis Ryan and Denis Carey. The song there is called WHERE THE MULCAIR RIVER FLOWS (note spelling) and it is attributed to James Ryan. You can also hear a sound sample of the first verse.

This song was recorded by Ryan's Fancy on the album A Time with Ryan's Fancy in 1979. (www.ryansfancy.com ) It was later released by Denis Ryan and Denis Carey (cousins) on the CD Newport town ( http://www.fivelinemusic.com/ ) Both gentlemen are from that part of Ireland.

On the sleeve of the C.D. "Bygone Days" by P.J. Murrihy the spelling is Mulchaire, but my ordnance survey road atlas gives Mulkear.

John Beag O Flatharta, a Conemara man, has this song on one of his CDs of a few years ago, with the title 'Where The Mulcair River Flows'. His style is kind of 'modern folk' with guitar. I like it a lot.

I can't find "Mulcaire River" in my favorite gazetteer, but Google gives 200 hits on "Mulcaire River" and 2000 hits on "Mulcair River".
