great! Pics here!

Numbers were down on last year - due to threat of thunderstorms & delays in council approval for camping, but we paid all our bills & didn't lose money.

Lots of great singing, music, workshops, dances, good tucker, good company, all in wonderful historic surroundings.

Some good stuff to buy too, including old books & magazines. I now hve a copy of the first issue of the Bush Music Club's magazine "Singabout of 1956, & also found 1953 sheet music for songs collected by Dr Percy Jones which went to the bloke researching his collection.

A good time was had by all.

Not so cheap if you live in Victoria though!

The recent Guildford Banjo Festival proved to be better value for money in that respect.

thought I'd better put Australia in the title so folks in other countries didn't get confused!
==================================

3rd Bush Traditions Gathering, Fri 3rd - Monday 6th October 2008 at the Old Goulburn Brewery

The Gathering seeks to foster interest in, knowledge about, and enjoyment of Australia’s cultural heritage of music, dance, poetry and folklore.

This is not a festival but a gathering of Aussie folk enthusiasts. It will be the third Bush Traditions event, a participatory gathering of musicians (including learners), dancers, singers, yarnspinners and poets who love our Aussie stuff. This is a low-cost friendly event where no-one is paid & everyone is there to learn, teach & share as well as perform their stuff.

The basic idea of the weekend is to encourage participation in all aspects of our bush traditions - bush music, songs, dance, yarns, poetry.

So there'll be workshops to learn tunes by ear or music, song workshops, dance music workshops, dances and of course showcase concerts.

The venue provides a terrific historical backdrop, locally brewed beer and excellent food.

Camping will be available on site.

Bradley Grange, now known as The Old Goulburn Brewery was built in the late 1830s as a unified industrial site of Mill, Maltings & Brewery by Colonial Architect Francis Greenway & is still operating as a brewery, restaurant, function centre with accommodation in the old Mews & Worker's cottages, and is the perfect space for the gathering.
