Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Oh, The Sea Is Calling From: Barbara Date: 29 Sep 08 - 03:39 PM Kathy, is there a tune someplace for that? Also, it puts me in mind of a Mary Benson song, Me and the Bairnies at Home. I know she sings Beer Maids of Valhalla. Do you know her? Blessings, BArbara |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Oh, The Sea Is Calling From: Jim Dixon Date: 28 Sep 08 - 07:57 PM My guess is, Kathi did compose it, because she posted another of her compositions here recently: BEER MAIDS OF VALHALLA - which I traced to another website that identifies her as the composer. There's also WHERE'S YOUR KNICKERS LUCY - which Google doesn't find anywhere else. |

Subject: Lyr Add: OH THE SEA IS CALLING (Kathi McKenzie) From: GUEST,(Kathi McKenzie) Date: 24 Sep 08 - 12:40 AM Oh, The Sea Is Calling I married a man, who worked on the land. I was a lady born of sea and sand. We traveled out west where the plains he's command. But oh, the sea is calling. And I remember the seagulls and the sweet salt sea air The scent of it lingering so long in my hair. And the memory of it's more than I can bear. Oh, the sea is calling. We built a fine house and I gave him a son And a curly haired daughter we'd watch play and run I'd sing them to sleep with tales of sea and sun 'Cause oh, the sea is calling And I remember the seagulls and the sweet salt sea air The scent of it lingering so long in my hair And the memory of it's more than I can bear Oh, the sea is calling. We suffered through dust storms, blizzards and rain Were joyful in pleasures, sorrowed in pain But if I had the choice, I'd do it over again Even though the sea is calling And I remember the seagulls and the sweet salt sea air The scent of it lingering so long in my hair And the memory of it's more than I can bear Oh, the sea is calling. Strange how your homeland, can pull your heart near To comfort your loved ones, the ones you hold dear It can ease all your loneliness, banish your fears With memories…. stories and songs My husband is gone and my children are grown They visit the seaside I again call my home. My loves are my treasures, I cherish when alone Oh, the sea is calling. And I remember the seagulls and the sweet salt sea air The scent of it lingering so long in my hair And the memory of it's more than I can bear Oh, the sea is calling. Can you hear the sea, calling?
