Here 'tis

You can find threads that 'drop off' the main page because no one has posted to them in 24 hours by typing part of the thread title (such as 'poetry') in the filter box and setting the 'Age' far enough to find it, then clicking 'Refresh'.

You can mark a thread by clicking 'trace', then you can find it when you want

Hi, Romany Man-
Let's see what kind of links will help you:

  • This link will take you straight to the Poetry Thread.
  • This link will add the Poetry Corner thread to the tracer on your Personal Page, so you can always find it.
  • This link will lead you to all our poetry threads.
  • This link to your Membership Page will allow you to change the BS filter settings on the bottom of the page - set the buttons where you want them, then "submit."
However, the Poetry Thread is not in the BS section, so the BS filter shouldn't affect it.
Some Mudcatters are smart enough that they might be able to make a link here to allow you to adjust your BS filter from this thread, but that's beyond my capabilities.

-Joe-

Hey, who is that poet who's really, really bad? - McGonagoogle or something like that. I can never remember his name. He's supposed to be the worst poet in history.

Well, Little Hawk is giving him a run for his money, and so is Rapaire. But neither have quite captured the Pure Essence of Mediocrity that is McGonagle. For that, we have to turn to Walksaboutverse and his hypnotic quatrains.

I commend to the attention of this company _The Stuffed Owl: An Anthology of Bad Verse_ (D. B. Wyndham Lewis & Charles Lee, Eds.; Coward-McCann, 1930; Capricorn, 1962). Neither McGonagall nor the Sweet Singer of Michigan is there, however; the collection is confined to arguably reputable poets in their off moments. See also the section "Self-Parodies: Unconscious" in _Parodies: An Anthology from Chaucer to Beerbohm -- and After" (Dwight Macdonald, Ed.; Faber & Faber, 1960).
