The other day one of the kids in my class made the mistake of letting me have her digital camera. As I went through the pictures on it I came across a little movie she'd made in one of the hotels in the Philippines. It was a woman playing a hammered dulcimer. She was part of a group playing for the entertainment of the guests.

I know I've seen hammered dulcimer on an old record album of Swiss music and there is one playing in the background as part of a group on a Greek Island in the movie Guns of Navaronne.

Where did this instrument come from and, as a second question, how did it get to the Philippines?
