On SBS tonight at 10pm there is a documentary/concert film featuring the songs of Kev Carmody with some of Australia's best musicians and singers taking part. It's called 'Cannot Buy My Soul'. I have the double CD and it is PURE GOLD! How a person with such incredible song writing ability is not better known is beyond me. If you have access to SBS, don't miss it!

Cheers,
Quokka

Thanks for the link, Freda, I haven't mastered the blue clicky thingy! Kev Carmody is a truly awe-inspiring musician and songwriter, and the esteem other great musicians hold for him is a testament to the man's talent.

Cheers,
Quokka

I'm also sure I mentioned Kev here before - can't find much on recent threads since the big problem here. I really like his work.

Why thank you Freda, I'm pretty darned proud of myself!(I can't believe how easy it is!) Don't have a clue what I was doing wrong before! Anyway you might like to check out the Fairbridge thread, I put up a clip of some friends of mine, Miltown. They've done a few of the festivals these last few months and are pretty damn fine musicians.

And Foolestroupe, good to hear from someone else who appreciates Kev Carmody. I absolutely love 'Droving Woman', what superb storytelling.

Cheers,
Quokka

Had to go out to see the live show for Morning of the Earth at the Palais but came home to find that the digital recording of the show worked just fine so we just sat down and watched another primo show. Personally I still like Kev's renditions of his own songs a little more than the ultra contemporary ones but hey there you go!

Cheers,

Andrez

Glad you caught it, Andrez. I must admit I like both Kev and (most of) the rest of the gang. I guess it shows what a wide variety of performers can appreciate Kev's music and songwriting.

Kev Carmody is an amazing song writer. I wish he would tour the US...especially Portland, so that I might see him live...and photograph him. He's an inspirational human being.

I agree with the sentiments about Kev's songwriting, I just wish he'd make it down to the sunny south of Australia sometime, anytime soon.

By the way another great Aussie talent Stephen Pigram has recently released a new solo studio album. Some fine songwriting and beautiful fiddle playing on it. Might be worth checking out.

Cheers,

Andrez
