According to James e Perone in Songs of the Vietnam Conflictit was written in 1968 by Shurli Grant, & published in 1969 in Broadside #98.

It's also referred to on p175 of Born in the USA

Freda, The link to the book by S. Grant doesnt take me to a viewable page. Is there any info on the tune that is used? It seem like the song badly needs to be updated.

I'm sorry about that link Andrez, it seems to start loading and then stop. There's another reference to the song on this page texas roadhouse records citing an LP by Bill Haymes called I Shall Be Released. It includes rare 1960s Houston folk, has Dylan & Farina tunes, plus Are You Bombing With Me, Jesus. The record on this site has been sold,but you may be able to find one somewhere else.

Thanks too Freda. No, I imagine it would have been set to a reasonably well known tune and not worth my spending $$ on to track a record down (especially with the dollar exchange rate today). I do have some friends who are into this kind of "bent" song so will check there. Google only turns up links to posts from the loony religious right asking who would Jesus bomb..... but dont get me started on those dudes!
