Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Trail of the Lonesome Pine From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 08 Aug 10 - 01:52 PM I remember that dump cow parody from childhood. Thanks for the multiple versions. |

And the only other operations I am running are background things like virus checkers. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Trail of the Lonesome Pine From: GUEST,Richard Date: 08 May 11 - 01:36 AM Here is the version I recall hearing as a kid: In the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginny, Lived a cow by a railroad track. She was a good old cow with eyes so fine, But you can't expect a cow to read a railroad sign, So she stood in the middle of the track, And the train came and hit her in the back. You'll find her bones in the mountains of Virginny, And her spine on the Lonesome Pine. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Trail of the Lonesome Pine From: GUEST,JB3 Date: 09 May 11 - 01:13 AM Did anyone ever dance to the old singing square dance, "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine?" I had the same tune, with square dance calls substituted for most of the words, but would end, each time through, with: "In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, on the Trail of the Lonesome Pine." |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Trail of the Lonesome Pine From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 09 May 11 - 10:33 AM I never danced to it, JB, but when I think about it, once the song appeared in the Laurel & Hardy film, it would have been a big hit, and composing a square dance to it would be natural. Guest Richard, yours was the 11th time somebody posted that same stupid, gross parody. MOst parodies are like graffiti. Something cheap and ugly splashed onto somebody else's hard work. I watched the Laurel and Hardy singing on YouTube. I believe that's the first time I ever saw them smile. The fat guy changes incredibly when he smiles. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Trail of the Lonesome Pine From: GUEST,Vabluegrass Date: 19 Oct 22 - 12:41 PM My mother sang this song to us when we were little but her words were slightly different: In the blue ridge mountains of Virginia Stood a cow on a railroad track. She was a good old cow with a heart so fine But you can't expect a cow to read a railroad sign She stopped! Cha Cha Cha In the middle of the track! And a train! Cha Cha Cha Hit her right in the back! In the blue ridge mountains of Virginia They found her tail on her lonesome spine... Her head was squashed! lol I miss my mom! |
