Recently we saw a band with a small box-like drum which you sit on and play by slapping(!) the sides. Does anyone know where we can get one?

It's a cajon (pronounced ca-honn) and they come with or without snares.

Try Hobgoblin.

You could buy one, or you could make a cajon
