Historically, a mining town (gold, platinum, coal, copper) but now it's mostly logging, ranching and retired folk (like us!). The songs I spoke of we have retrieved from the early days of Princeton - we have a full run of the local paper from 1900, which contains many songs and poems.

It looks like I will get there...I just went on Air Canada and got a good ticket...it will save me almost a day of travel...hope to hitch a ride back to Seattle or Olympia though ...even Portland if it is early enough. mg

check out the Vancouver Folk Song Society web page. Just google it. It is quite participatory and the music has tended to be quite good. mg

Mary, where can we get more info about this music camp? Is it participatory, like Singtime Frolics, Rainy Camp, and the FSGW Getaway?

I can't make it this year but it's close by, so I might next year.

Should be good. About $100 or so US for the weekend. I hope to make it but transportation is very difficult from where I live..I could be in Portland by 11 a.m., or Olympia by 3 p.m. (or so). I would love to carpool with someone from either place. Other points become more difficult. I wouldn't be able to get to Seattle until 6:30 perhaps...or maybe earlier..I will recheck the Greyhound.

This tends to be a very nice weekend, but they have the unfortunate habit of blinding people with flourescent lights. It could be so easily solved with a few lamps, and if people can't see to read the blue books, oh well. I hope camp planners have alternative rooms for those of us who hate flourescent lights, for medical and philosophical and comfort reasons. I will, unless perhaps Joan Baez is in attendance, walk out of any room that has them. I just absolutely hate them, especially way late at night. But to each her own. mg
