The Berea Collection contains "correspondence, song texts, and folklore narrative material collected from students by folklore scholar E. C. Perrow, while he was teaching at the University of Louisville diring the early teens of the 1900s. Narrative subject areas include anecdotes, games, riddles, rhymes and superstitions."

Is this the same Perrow (Ebon) who moved to Georgia for health reasons, and became a surveyor of some fame? His wife, an accomplished musician from Boston, was not comfortable in the local culture. [e-mail]

The main book was "Songs and Rhymes from the South," E. C. Perrow.

Then there were articles in the JOAFL. I know he was an English teacher at the University of Louisville for a while.

I was just wondering what his connection to the Hindman School was. I guess that started around 1900 and Josiah Combs began his collecting career then. Kittredge was involved. Then there were other Kentucky collectors including Niles who I assume were later.

I was wondering if anyone had a bio on song collector E.C. Perrow. I know he wrote some article for the JOAFL in the Before 1920.

How would I be able to view those editions?
