Subject: RE: E. C. Perrow info and bio From: Richie Date: 07 Sep 11 - 12:31 PM Hi, Some new info has been posted at the Houghton Library. I've written a bio probably the most comprehensive one so far. http://bluegrassmessengers.com.temp.realssl.com/e-c-perrow-.aspx Any info about his later life in Georgia? His short privately published books? Here's the complete Songs and Rhymes on my site: http://bluegrassmessengers.com.temp.realssl.com/songs-and-rhymes.aspx Richie |

Subject: RE: E. C. Perrow info and bio From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 19 Sep 10 - 01:21 PM Links to this and a number of other books and articles here- "Internet Resources: traditional song": http://www.folk-network.com/directory/links/song-collections_books.html. For some reason the links to Perrow and some other books (all 20th C.?) come up as "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." Joe's links to Parts 1 and 2 of Perrow work. Is some copyright infringement rule interfering? |

Subject: RE: E. C. Perrow info and bio From: GUEST Date: 15 Oct 08 - 08:29 PM Is this the same Perrow (Ebon) who moved to Georgia for health reasons, and became a surveyor of some fame? His wife, an accomplished musician from Boston, was not comfortable in the local culture. wwwright@bellsouth.net |
Subject: RE: E. C. Perrow info and bio From: Richie Date: 11 Oct 08 - 03:29 PM The main book was "Songs and Rhymes from the South," E. C. Perrow. Then there were articles in the JOAFL. I know he was an English teacher at the University of Louisville for a while. I was just wondering what his connection to the Hindman School was. I guess that started around 1900 and Josiah Combs began his collecting career then. Kittredge was involved. Then there were other Kentucky collectors including Niles who I assume were later. Richie |
Subject: E. C. Perrow info and bio From: Richie Date: 11 Oct 08 - 02:35 PM Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a bio on song collector E.C. Perrow. I know he wrote some article for the JOAFL in the Before 1920. How would I be able to view those editions? How about his books? Richie |
