Alternately, when you leave a page that you wish to return to then open the new page in a new 'tab' or a new 'window'

Guest, Volgadon

It's something of a nuisance to be "techie specific," but your description doesn't really give all the information needed for a meaningful reply.

There are numerous ways in which you can "leave a page."

If the page is left opened in a window or at a tab in your browser, and you go to a new page in a new tab or in a new window, then sometimes if you return to the still-open page, by clicking the tab where you left it or bringing up the window, you might expect to find your "view point" where you left it.

If you closed the page to go to a new page, then going back to the page means that the page has to be re-loaded and you should expect it to be "at the top" of the page.

Even if you left the page open, you can set some browsers to "always check for updates." Some browsers will always reload the page with this setting; and some will reload only if the browser finds that the page has been changed while you were looking at something else. If the page is "refreshed," you will see the beginning of the page at the top.

To "return to the same place" the page must be in "Temporary memory" on your computer. If your Temp memory is too full, you'll nearly always get a re-load of the page, and will see the top of the page the next time you look at it. [You might run Disk Cleanup to see if this makes your browser act like what you expect.]

Unless you're looking at the MOABS thread all in one chunk, this doesn't seem like much of a problem. If it really is something that seriously inhibits your pleasurable participation, we would need a very specific - probably step-by-step - description of exactly what you're doing and what happens, before any real help can be offered.

John

What I mean is that if I've scrolled down half-way through a thread, if I leave the page, then return, it doesn't go back to that spot, but to the begining.

Oh, thought you meant this:

The Mudcat Help Forum is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Anyway, if you post to a thread, it goes to the top, watch!

I have no idea why, but since yesterday, whenver I return to a page I've left, it isn't where I left it, but back at the very top.
Help!

Thanks.
