My Dad remembers one verse of this from a very old Ireland's Own magazine, and wonders if anyone knows the rest of it

4th line of second verse should read

Marks where a hero died

Cheers,
Quokka

Here is another verse:

Along the valley plain and pass
And on the mountainside
The little cross of wood or stone
Mraks where a hero died
They died that Ireland might be free
And ever one remain
But did they win that victory
Or did they die in vain

That's all I have, hope someone can come up with a name or any more to the song, or who wrote it etc. Thanks.

Cheers,

Quokka

Help needed - sorry I don't know the title of the song, have tried several phrases and topics in the search, no luck. I have a couple of verses:

The grass grows green upon the paths
That once were trodden bare
Beneath the feet of stalwart men
And colleens fresh and fair

Dismal crumbling roofless walls
Marks where their homes had been
And where their parents knelt and prayed
Through many a fearful night
That God might grant their gallant sons
To carry on the fight

Thanks,
Quokka
