Subject: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: Chris Green Date: 15 Oct 08 - 07:09 PM Hollo Myself and my other half are going on holiday to Aberdaron on the Llyn Peninsula in Wales in April. Are there any sessions or likewise folky activity going around there that anyone knows of? Cheers Chris |
Subject: RE: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: Nigel Parsons Date: 16 Oct 08 - 04:07 AM There's Conway Folk Club You may get more from Google if you correct the spelling to Lleyn Peninsula. Yours appears to relate to an Island(Llyn) peninsula, surely a contradiction in terms. Cheers Nigel |

Subject: RE: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 16 Oct 08 - 06:19 AM We had our own session at the Coach Inn in Clynnog Fawr (Klingon Four to those who can only speak English and Klingon...) The landlord at the time was a Scouser and was quite happy to let us play as long as we were drinking. Good pint of Pedigree with added Vitamin Headache, so on the second night opted for the absolutely wonderful Mitchells Mild. Visit the Iron Age barrow if you get there - Eerie place. Cheers Dave |
Subject: RE: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: Mr Happy Date: 16 Oct 08 - 06:27 AM Was there a few years back, in Morfa Nefyn. Didn't find any singing pubs in the area, best put out an APB to folkies in those parts for a gettogether somewhere |
Subject: RE: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 16 Oct 08 - 06:34 AM BTW - If anyone ever wondered why there was a massive church (St Buenos) and a huge coaching house in Klingon Four it is because it is a stopping place for pilgrims bound for Bardley Island (I think!) D. |
Subject: RE: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: GUEST,HughM Date: 16 Oct 08 - 08:11 AM Don't know about sessions I'm afraid, but can someone tell me how to pronounce it? Whenever I hear the said peninsula mentioned on the radio or TV it's pronounced "llyn". Is that right? |
Subject: RE: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: Chris Green Date: 16 Oct 08 - 10:27 AM Thanks guys! |
Subject: RE: Llyn Peninsula - sessions? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 16 Oct 08 - 03:00 PM It's pronounced more like Hclane, I think. One of the funniest things I heard was in the the Coach. Two blokes speaking in Welsh One said Hclllwww wwwcckkk trwcluwwee - usual stuff - and the other one replied "F***ing Black and Decker!" D |
