Reagan was 69 when he was elected, and 83 when he was "officially" diagnosed with Alzheimers (several years after he left office). Many people, perhaps prejudiced ones, believe that he was acting a bit odd while still President. McCain is 72. Three health care professionals that I know well, and who work regularly with a geriatric population, say that some of his appearances (especially in the 3rd debate) give them reasons for concern. I hope, for his sake and for all of ours if he is elected, that they are wrong. |
