Karen and I will be going down Exmoor way for the fair and music-sessions at Bampton at the end of this month.It's a first for both of us,so we wondered a) what it was like (I hear there are usually Breton musicians there ??) and b)will there be other 'catters going ??

I'm not going but wish I was! Pat and I are away Up North that weekend but we went to Bampton last year and it was a brilliant weekend. It's mainly song and music sessions in the lovely pubs there and a very good concert on the Saturday afternoon.

I will definitely go again.

Oh! I wished we had known about it, looks like fun, how do you go about getting tickets, where is there to stay etc.. Any clues anyone. Andy and Iare looking for some different festivals to go to.

Kitten is a new addition Chris, just 12 weeks now. She did come along to Bampton as we had to give her ear-drops. She's just gorgeous, travels sitting on laps in the car & is at home in the caravan!! Would be great if you & Fiona can get out & about more, we've been missing you.

Jillie: only the town variety concert on the Saturday afternoon is ticketed. The rest of 'After the Fair' is lunchtime & evening sessions in the town's pubs, usually 4 but we coped with 3 this year as one was shut as the landlord passed away recently. Chat with us re camping when next we meet, meanwhile keep smiling!!

For anyone else who is interested ( and believe me it's a BRILLIANT festival if you like meeting new people and playing in sessions until 3 am), then there is a very good Caravan Club site, "Lakeside",a short distance from Bampton,in Exbridge,complete with nearby farmhouse selling oven-ready pheasants at £ 4-90 a brace ! And a good pub that does (we were told) a very good cooked breakfast. A lot of people,though,elected to rough it a bit and use the town centre car-park (but you can only do that after Friday,when the fun-fair bods have decamped).WFD and I prefer loos and showers,though!
