I've been searching high and low for the lyrics to "Huzzah for the SCA"... It's an original filk, which I've heard a few times at events, and on a CD this last weekend, but have not yet found the lyrics to.

If someone has them, please share? Google didn't even come up with anything, except someone else requesting the lyrics and no one being able to provide them to him.

Thanks!

~M

Do you mean, Pretoria, aka The Zulu Warrior. Or is it a hunting song?
More info needed.

You don't find too many filkers here. Mainly folkies, which is another thing altogether.

This would be a song by the bard John of Ark in An Tir. While I know that there aren't a lot of SCA folk here per se, there is quite a bit of cross-over... So I figured I'd try here, too.

Usually I'm able to find songs like this, but I'm coming up blank. I did a Google search for SCA Songbooks and came up with lots of material, but not this particular song.

Merripan - are you the same person that's been looking for it on groups.yahoo.com/group/SCA_BARDS?

If NOT, you might want to try there...

There are heaps of SCA groups on Yahoo - and other lists.

there really is much crossover of SCA style stuff onto folkies, even those of us who were once involved. It somehow just doesn't have the right ring to it.

ooops -
By the way - "Huzzah" is really NOT 'period' for the SCA... so I've been informed... :-)

Is it a derivative of "Hurrah for the CRE" the song of the Royal Engineers?

Good morning Mr Stevens,
And Windy Notchy Knight,
Hoorah for the CRE!
We are working very hard
Down at Upnor Hard,
Hoorah for the CRE!

You make fast,
I make fast,
Make fast the dinghy,
Make fast the dinghy, Make fast the dinghy,
You make fast,
I make fast,
Make fast the dinghy,
Make fast the dinghy pontoon.

For we?re marching on to Laffan?s Plain,
to Laffan?s Plain, to Laffan?s Plain,
Yes we?re marching on to Laffan?s Plain,
Where they don?t know mud from clay.

Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah ah ah
Ooshta Ooshta
Ooshta Ooshta
Ikona malee
Picaninny scoff
Ma-ninga sabenza
Here?s another off
Oolum-da cried Matabele
Oolum-da Away we go
Ah ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
?
Hooray!
