Subject: Name these tunes From: JSobiski@aol.com Date: 14 Jun 99 - 01:55 AM I'm having trouble remebering a couple of song titles and would appreciate any help anyone could please give me. The first is, I believe, a David Bromberg song. The chorus goes "Let's lie around the shanty mama and put a good buzz on." The other song begins "Booze don't make me lazy. Cocaine don't make me crzy. What I do ain't nobody's business but my own." Thank you for your time |

Subject: RE: Name these tunes From: DWDitty Date: 14 Jun 99 - 05:45 AM The first song is by Jonathan Edwards. By the way, I play his Guild F50R that was his stage guitar for many years. As you might guess, it's called Lay Around the Shanty. The second is an old song called 'Taint Nobody's Business. I would guess from the lyrics you provided, that this would be Taj Mahal's version (Wine is fine, but liquor's quicker. I'll dring all the rum down in Costa Rica).. |

Subject: RE: Name these tunes From: DWDitty Date: 16 Jun 99 - 05:54 AM Rick F. I frequent George Youngblood's shop in Guilford CT. As it turns out JE lives in the next town and had traded this guitar to George in exchange for some work on one of his other instruments. I had always wanted an F50 since some of my favorite musicians play them - JE, Dave Van Ronk, Dan Hicks, to name a few. The bottom line is I traded my HD-28 for it and have never looked back. And I would have done so even if it was not JE's guitar. BTW, If your ever in the area, be sure to visit George's shop. No pressure, nice antique house with Oriental rugs, velevt couches, wood stoves, and lots of really great new, used, and vintage stringed instruments of every description. DW |
