CNN Report 27/1/08 08:00

A morris team was arrested today in England after a 2 day siege. The team broke into the BBCs broadcasting station in Manchester. Members of the public became suspicious when they noticed more than 1 folk programme being broadcast on the same day. The team has been released on condition they do not dance within 5 miles of any city centre.

"Cowell also said that Bob Dylan would bore him stiff. What a jerk!"

Well...

I have to say, I agree with him.

When a young girl sang an excellent unaccompanied version of 'Dimming of the Day' Louis, the other tw*t, asked "what was that song, was it some sort of spiritual"? Obviously never heard anything outside of the narrow boy / girl band repertoire

Well they'd need new judges; Simon Cowell apparently hadn't heard of "The Dimming of the Day" or Richard Thompson: so please list your candidates below!

Now that would give Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross something to talk about.

That's a great idea, Lowden...except for travelling 50 miles to the nearest folk club...and then the entertainment isn't as good as it is on the telly!

Sod the telly and get yourself off to live folk clubs, ditch the Tesco beer cans and get some real ale down you man!

All we need now is a folk song week on the X Factor - I wonder what songs would be chosen for the contestants.......

Yea good innit!

JUst had most of them on!

Couldn't understand the Gaelic ~ or Deante or similar

Maddy Prior from Cecil Sharp house, seen on cable play back and on BBC eye, some slight differences of content was Oct 23rd I think so up to date Chieftains repeat!

Keep it up and Legends of Folk seems to have been edited out of the advert!

"There'll be a regular folk programme on next...or is that being really silly"

About as likley as Jack Brown squiring a Ladies Morris side.

Blas was almost (2008?) archive but I don't think Maddy Prior (Electric Proms-repeated 12.30am BBC4)) is very archive....then my tele also picked up Eliza Carthy and a documentry on the Chieftains!
Whatever is going on? There'll be a regular folk programme on next...or is that being really silly?

It's probably an old telly - maybe it's not even electric?

Nah- there are more channels than viewers so they have to fill the time with something, and archive is cheap, and repeats as cheap.

Don't be a grouch, stop complaining - bask in the moment - it will pass when they give in and have to justify the airtime so it will be wall to wall football.

Come to think of it, my wall is more interesting...............

I think there must be something wrong with my television. Recently, there's (almost) been more Folk Music than you can shake your stick at!. Last night I had to shuttle beween BBC ALBA showing an hour of an excellent BLAS concert featuring the Chieftains (sans Matt Molloy!) and Maddy Prior (with Tim Hart!!) on thye Electric Proms. Is it the beginning of the third revival or do I need a television repair man?!
