Eric Andersen will be my special guest on WFDU-FM's TRADITIONS this Sunday (October 26) at 4pm ET. (Traditions airs from 3 to 6pm ET). You can listen in at 89.1FM or online at www.wfdu.fm.

Eric will be joining me to talk about his recent projects and his outlook at the music scene, and also to promote his upcoming appearance at the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club at the Fair Lawn Community Center next Saturday night (11/1).

Tickets for the Saturday November 1 concert with Eric Andersen and Tom Breiding are selling briskly and we expect a good turnout. We strongly suggest ordering tickets in advance to insure that you will have a seat for the show! Order tickets today at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org.

Also, on the subject of tickets, the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club has LOWERED the price for tickets to our first Sunday Afternoon Concert with the Alexandria Kleztet on Sunday November 9 at 2pm. Because of the continuing economic downturn that all of us are struggling with, we have lowered the admission for adult tickets by $5 - a ticket for the Nov. 9 concert will be $20 ($17 for Hurdy Gurdy members) and $15 for children under 14!! We can also offer group discounts - please contact us for more information. IF you have already ordered tickets for this concert - you will receive a partial refund!

In addition to making this concert more affordable, we hope that it will be an incentive for everyone to explore some exciting new music and help us inaugurate what we hope will be a successful new concert series for a Sunday afternoon!

Tickets for all of our concerts are on sale through our website at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org You can also call the Hurdy Gurdy Hotline for more information - 201 384-1325.

We look forward to seeing you at our concerts and sharing great music together!

I had a wonderful time speaking with Eric on my show on Sunday. We discussed his early days in the village and the songwriting that emerged from the folk revival. He had a very interesting perspective - they wrote songs because they needed music that expressed their thoughts and era, which they could not find in the traditional.   It gave me pause to realize that is the same reason the "traditional" songs were created in the first place - to meet a need for expression.

Everyone is looking forward to seeing Eric perform on Saturday night. He only performs in this area once or twice a year as he lives in the Netherlands. Our piano at the Fair Lawn Community Center has been tuned up for the evening!!!

Also on the bill is a songwriter/performer that I am very excited about - Tom Breiding. I met Tom a few years ago at a folk conference and I was very impressed with his work. He recently created a CD of songs about coal mining in West Virginia, his home state. These were original songs with one piece being an obituary of a miner that Tom found in an old newspaper.

It should be a terrific evening of song, and tickets have been selling well. There is still room - tickets are available at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org .
