Carter Bar, the 1980s song by Scots group Findask, is about crossing over into Scotland on the A68 road. But it seems to be about more than that, in rather coded language, and I speculate it is about the December 1950 bringing back of the Stone of Destiny from London. I've a vague memory of reading an account of the group stopping as they crossed the border, but cannot find that passsage anywhere.
Anybody know more?
Ewan McVicar

Try Ian Hamilton's book on the subject. Unfortunately I just put my copy into a charity shop recently!
