Leon Redbone gave an excellent performance at The Forum on the opening night of the "Imagine" Festival in Waterford. The Forum's a small, intimate venue and it was a real treat to see the man at close range. I hadn't seen him in person before and was bowled over by his great sense of humour - almost W.C.Fields-ish at times. The voice was superb - and I also hadn't realised how expert he was at whistling - though occasionally some of the guitar improvisations were played very quietly and nearly got lost. Basically, he had the audience in the palm of his hand. A great evening, and well worth travelling over from England to catch it. High spot of the evening - for me - was "Shine On Harvest Moon".

[Oh, and just in case anyone thought otherwise, LR is NOT YouTube's "Fretkillr". We stayed in the same hotel as LR and got into conversation with him in the hotel bar on the Saturday afternoon following the concert. LR's hands are NOT the hands of "Fretkillr"!]
