I was going to suggest that Malcolm Taylor would be happy to oblige - lovely feller.

Tim and I exchanged emails on the subject of George Blake's song some time ago; at present it's classified in Roud at 218 (with 'Oxford City') but properly belongs at 1478 (with 'Down the Green Groves'). I haven't seen Mrs Hall's version so far as I remember, but it's possible that Bob has (Tim has his email). You can always ask Malcolm Taylor, of course.

Tim - I reckon that your best bet would be Bob Askew, who as you know is doig Gardiner research - he may well have the answer to your query already. If you care to PM me - probably best on Facebook rather than here- I can give you his email address.

Hi All,

I am starting to put together details for a new recording and have discovered there is an important part of my research missing - and as I live in America, it is difficult for me to "drop" into The Vaughan Williams Library at Cecil Sharp House to get a copy of a something that is on their microfilm.
So - is there anyone who could get it for me and e-mail me the info.??
I want to know the collected text of the following song:
Maria and William - Roud 218, as collected by Dr. Gardiner in Hampshire from Mrs. King of Lyndhurst in June or July 1906 - It is in the Gardiner Microfilm and collection as H375.
I need to compare that text with the one I have from George Blake (H314 - Maria) that I have just recorded.
Should you wish to contact me directly, please PM me and I can give you my e-mail address.

Thanks - Tim Radford
